A stroll in Provence

Feel like a local already?

You drank a glass of rosé on Massilon Square? Enjoyed a platter of seafood with a view on the islands? Played with the dolphins? Visited the salt marshes and its bird reserves? The gardens? Have you become a windsurfing pro and tasted all the local wines? Have you climbed to the top of the castle and enjoyed the view from the relaxing terraces of the Villa Noailles? You have been island hopping, followed the International Fashion Festival? Do even the farmers at the market know your name? Congratulations! You have become a local!

Hyères: ideal starting point for your tour of Provence

If there is still time in your holiday, why not climb up for a visit to the nearby village of Bormes, perched upon a hill and famous for its mimosa plants? You could also visit the bay of Toulon, have a hike among the Maures hills and even extend your daytrip to St Tropez (located just an hour away) for a stroll among picturesque streets and a guilt-free session of yacht-spotting? Is the heat overbearing? Escape for a swim in the Verdon river turquoise waters.

More to the east, only 2 hours away you will find Nice and its famous “Promenade des Anglais” running along the sea. Are you an art lover? Marseille, chosen 2013 European Culture, is only 1.5 hours away. A few kilometres north is Aix-en-Provence, birth place of the painter Paul Cézanne and proud home of his beloved mountain Sainte-Victoire. And there is plenty more to discover…
