Le Michel C

WRECK HISTORY...
The Correo de Cette, first name of the Michel C, was built in 1866 by the Renfrew shipyards in Belfast. In 1899, on the night of November 26, the Michel C was en route to Cannes in foggy weather. She was carrying beer and flour. That day, it collided with another ship and sank with its engineer on board. The 11 crew members only had time to climb aboard the Amphion before their ship sank. The Michel C sank some 100 m from another wreck, "Le ville de Grasse". The wreck is not very large and not very well preserved, in fact, the least damaged part is the bow at 39 m, where Capon's winches, anchors and cranes can still be admired.

FAUNA AND FLORA:
Congers and moray eels hide in the many nooks and crannies of the Michel C. You can also observe grouper, schools of wolves and mullets. Around the wreck, there are sumptuous faults and drop-offs covered in gorgonians.
Several dives are possible on and around the wreck.

- Remarks: Occasionally strong currents and fast-dropping depths as you head west. Beware of boat traffic.
