Repentance fort

Dedicated to St. Mary of Egypt, the hermitage is a dependency of Saint-Antoine-Le-Grand Monastery (Drôme). After 40 years of community life lived in the monastery, Father Seraphim stood at Porquerolles in what was the old fort of Repentance, to live as a hermit according to the ideal proposed by Saint Cassian of Marseilles (fifth century ): "The perfection of the hermit is to have the clear mind of all earthly things and to keep united to Christ so far as human weakness permits."
