Hyères, Porquerolles, Port Cros and Le Levant are situated right at the beginning of the sanctuary which encompasses, in an almost perfect quadrilateral shape, areas of the Mediterranean Sea and the Ligurian Sea, surrounding Corsica and the Tuscan Archipelago. It shelters an outstanding cetacean faunal diversity with many species particularly numerous during summer. It is also a space for public consultation in order to develop the human activities in harmony with their environment, without compromising the survival and the habitat quality of the species.
