Laurent Loiseau, or “Loizo” for his artist name, was born in Hyères in the Var and took classes from the sculptor Antoine Gabriel Cotel at the municipal art school from the age of 9. A gifted student, he won several prizes including 1st prize in the city of Hyères. He specifies: “I learned from Gabriel Cotel the basics of drawing and painting, perspective, mixing colors... I took classes for adults and those for children. With the grandmothers, we painted still lifes, I was a bit of their favorite! My teacher was rigorous but generous. ".
