In 2024, the Hyères skatepark celebrates its 25th anniversary! With its avant-garde design, the Hyères skatepark has left its mark on the history of skateboarding in France and beyond. When it was created in 1999, it was the first Street Park in Europe and the world.

Its innovative features were highlighted at the Villa Noailles Architecture Festival in February 2016. Hyères, as a town with strong tourist, sporting and cultural potential, is known as a Mediterranean Mecca for "Glisse", both nautical (Funboard, Kitesurf and Wingfoil), and terrestrial with Skateboarding - the first photographic traces of skateboarding in Hyères date back to 1978 (André Durieux photographic fund).

The "78/24 - History of Skateboarding" exhibition highlights works, photographs and collectors' items that trace the evolution of this alternative culture that emerged in California in the 1950s, and of a sport that this year will shine on Place de la Concorde as an official event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
